Botox
Botulinum A Exotoxin has been safely used since 1984 to minimize the effects of sun damage, age, genetics, and time. Botulinum toxin has given rise to a virtual revolution in minimally invasive aesthetic enhancement of the upper face, hands and axilla. Botox  works by preventing the release of acetylcholine from the presynaptic neuron of the striated muscle's neuro muscular junction.  In other words, it causes a temporary muscle paralysis which allows the hyperactive muscle to become flaccid, relaxing the overlying skin and decreasing or minimizing wrinkles. The effects of Botox are generally seen  2-3 days after injection lasting upwards of 4-6 months.  Risks can be infection, bleeding, bruising, lid lag, stinging with the injection, antibodies can develop and can result in no effect from Botox.  This procedure should be avoided while pregnant!

I want you to feel comfortable with whatever procedure you are choosing to have done.  I will ask you to point out to me what areas you would like to try to improve, whether you are having only one area improved or several.  I will answer your questions and be happy to make suggestions.

Because most Botox usage is considered a cosmetic or aesthetic procedure, insurances do not pay for it's use.  Therefore, we do not submit this to your insurance and will expect you to pay up front before services are rendered.

My office will be happy to make an appointment for a consultation at your convenience. We will have you fill out the usual patient information.  You are not required to change insurances or switch primary physicians.

I will  examine your skin and ask questions pertaining to your medical history.  Generally we will put you on a waiting list of people desiring the procedure.  When we have enough people to use an entire vial we will arrange a time for your visit. 

You pay for only the amount of Botox you used.  Some people who have more wrinkles, or sun damaged skin require more units of Botox.  Some people with fair, thinner skin require less.  The following list of costs is a general example of the amount of Botox needed for particular areas and the cost.
